Our environment encourages students to make the most of the rich intellectual experience made possible by the many resources of both the law school and University, each recognized around the world as being among America’s finest educational institutions. The most valuable of these resources are our faculty. These nationally recognized scholars are, first and foremost, excellent and committed teachers who make time to mentor students and work closely with them as they pursue their personal and professional goals. A truly effective legal education goes beyond the world of academic law. At Wash U Law, students gain real lawyering experience through unparalleled hands-on experiences. Whether you have questions about class discussions, want counseling on career options, or just want to chat, you are treated like a colleague. Our full-time faculty also teach clinical and applied lawyering skills courses. The strength of many of the clinical skills courses is that they join the diverse backgrounds of our faculty with the talents of practicing lawyers and judges who teach as adjunct faculty members. This combination exposes students to a variety of experiences and views. Opportunities to work with faculty members as either a research assistant or as part of a supervised research program are also readily available. Your relationship with our faculty will continue well beyond your years at Washington University. Many of our faculty remain closely connected to law school alumni and actively participate in helping current students network with alumni in related fields. Washington University School of Law is committed to educating tomorrow's leaders by providing our students with the best legal education. Our award-winning Clinical Education Program, which U.S. News and World Report ranked third in the Nation, provides students opportunities to learn professional skills and values by working in the real world with clients, attorneys, judges, and legislators. Through our program, law students assist indigent and low-income clients with domestic violence, homelessness, civil rights, environmental, community health, criminal defense, and intellectual property cases, working with the state and federal courts, congressional committees, and federal agencies.
